Frequently Asked Questions

Don’t let your questions go unanswered. We cover our basic questions and answers that we get for our roofing and spouting contract jobs. Not able to find answers to your question? Contact us today!

Q. How do I know when my roof needs to be replaced?
A. Check for cracked, curled, broken, and missing shingles, as well as heavy loss of granules. If your roof is showing any of these indicators, it will likely need to be repaired or replaced.
Q. How large is your service area?
A. We serve the entire state of Ohio as well as portions of West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania.
Q. What is the procedure to schedule an appointment for a roof  inspection and replacement estimate.
A. Please reach out to us by phone or email, and we will set up a time to meet you at your home. Most appointments are 1 or 2 hours in length, depending on the type of project. Measurements will be taken, as well as a visual inspection of your roof. We will discuss with you the different types and grades of roofing that are available, and will be happy to help you select the product that best suits your needs and expectations, as well as your budget. Our salespeople have
years of experience in installing roofs, and will be able to answer any questions you may have concerning roofing products or installation techniques. For simple roofing projects, the replacement estimate will be written and presented immediately. For more complex projects, we will prepare the estimate within several days and send it to you via mail, email, or a second meeting at your home. There is no charge for an estimate.
Q. Do you have your own employees, or do you hire subcontractors to do the work?
A. Our roofs are installed by our own crew of employees, that have been trained by our company. You will see the workers arrive in company trucks clearly marked with our Yoder Family Roofing logo. Typically our employees also wear
company shirts with our logo and their first name on the front, which makes it easy for you to identify them.
Q. How is the cleanup and disposal of the old shingles handled?
A. Tarps are spread to protect your siding and landscaping where necessary. All shingles and debris will be cleaned up and hauled away, as well as using a magnet to pick up the nails in your grass and flower beds. In most cases we use our small portable dump trailers to dispose of the old shingles, which eliminates the need for a large and unsightly disposal container in your yard.
Q. What are the ugly black streaks on my roof?
A. The black streaks are caused by airborne algae. You will often see it in shaded areas, and on the North side of your home which gets less heat from the sun. The streaks are mostly an aesthetic issue, and should not affect the performance of your roof. The new asphalt shingles that we install feature streakfighter technology that inhibits the growth of algae.
Q. Do you install metal roofs as well as asphalt shingles.
A. Yes we do. In addition to the many different types of asphalt shingles available, we offer economical Ag Rib metal roofing with exposed fasteners, as well as interlocking standing seam metal roofs with concealed fasteners. We also install metal shingles made to simulate the look of wood shakes, slate, or Spanish tile.
Q. Are you licensed and insured?
A. We carry liability insurance, as well as workers compensation for our employees. We will gladly provide you with the documentation for both.  Ohio does not license roofing contractors, but we will obtain city licensing and permits for your project where/if required.
Q. Do I need to be home while my roof is being replaced?
A. No. During a typical roof replacement, we will not need to access the inside of your home. If there is an unusual situation which would require access, we would notify you beforehand so you can make the necessary arrangements to your schedule.
 Q. How long will it take to complete my roofing project?
A. Most house roofs can be completed in 1-3 days. If your roof requires more than one day to complete, the jobsite will be cleaned up and all our tools and materials neatly stacked each evening before we leave.
Q. Is there a warranty on your work?
A. All the products that we install have a warranty from the manufacturer. Yoder Family Roofing also offers a
labor warranty with every roofing job. Both the material and labor warranties vary in length based on the roof system you choose. We will be happy to explain the different warranty options available to help you choose the best.
